What is the difference between granular carbon and honeycomb carbon?

1. Scope of application

The pores of granular carbon are smaller than that of honeycomb carbon, so its wind resistance is larger than that of honeycomb carbon. It is required to remove dust before entering the activated carbon adsorption to prevent it from being blocked by dust particles, which will affect the ventilation and adsorption effect; and the honeycomb activated carbon has a large pore size. Good performance (but poor adsorption), wide application occasions.

2. Security

The adsorption and desorption speed of honeycomb activated carbon is faster than that of granular activated carbon, so if the desorption process is not well controlled, the concentration of organic waste gas will be instantly high (exceeding the lower explosion limit), and there is a risk of explosion, so honeycomb activated carbon is used in the application Compared with granular activated carbon, the safety performance is poor.

3. Adsorption capacity

The specific surface area and adsorption capacity of granular activated carbon are larger than those of honeycomb activated carbon, so the carbon bed equipment filled with honeycomb carbon is larger; honeycomb carbon is easier to absorb and saturate because of its lower adsorption capacity, so the replacement cycle of honeycomb carbon is shorter. Replacement frequency higher.

4. Frequency of cleaning or replacement

Due to the irregular structure of granular activated carbon, it is more likely to be blocked by impurities and other particles in the exhaust gas, and it is not easy to clean, while the structure of honeycomb activated carbon is regular and easy to clean; the replacement and filling of granular activated carbon is easier and faster than honeycomb activated carbon. Assembling and dismantling, the particles are directly bagged and disassembled.

5. Operating cost

Granular activated carbon has a larger adsorption capacity and can be continuously regenerated, and its operating cost is much lower than that of honeycomb carbon. At the same time, honeycomb carbon has no regeneration value due to its high ash content, and it has to pay higher hazardous waste disposal fees.
